Each year, approximately 3 million women deal with the fear and trauma of an unplanned pregnancy. About 1.3 million a year have chosen abortion, because they found they could turn to no one for help.
As NPR commentator, Beliefnet.com columnist (and former staunch abortion-rights advocate) Frederica Mathewes-Green wrote,
"Do women want abortion? Not like she wants a Porsche... Like an animal caught in a trap, trying to gnaw off its own leg, a woman who seeks abortion is trying to escape a desperate situation by an act of violence and self-loss. Abortion is not a sign that women are free, but a sign that they are desperate."

There is a network of over 4,800 life-affirming, confidential, non-profit pregnancy centers across the United States and Canada (3,400 in the USA and 1,400 outside the USA). These centers offer CONFIDENTIAL, FREE pregnancy tests, info on STDs, adoption, parenting, medical referrals, housing, other practical help to women and men facing pregnancy related concerns, and someone to talk to, as well as after-abortion support.
